Around Here: Christmas Edition

Around here we are observing Advent for the first time. Each week we light a new candle and read Scriptures using the Family Inductive Bible Study Guide by Eleanor Zweigle. (resource provided by our church)
Around Here we purchased a Christmas Tree Permit that allowed us to go into the National Forest to select and cut down our very first real tree! It was so magical out there treking through the snow to find just the right tree. Also a great workout.
Around Here we are taking advantage of drinking hot chocolate any opportunity...so after our tree was cut, we stopped for a quick picnic of leftover quesadillas that Joe made the night before with said hot beverage.
Around Here decorations are minimal but meaningful.
Around Here I am trying to take moments for reflection and thoroughly enjoy what usually is a crazy busy and hectic season. All four of us have had bouts of sickness that have caused us to SLOW.
Around Here we found a neighborhood for our annual drive around looking at lights. This big star was my fave. The kids especially liked the Abominable Snowman...or "monster" as they call him.
Around Here I am thinking about goals (not resolutions...there is a difference right?) for the New Year. How can I better serve the Lord? My family? Others? How can I make the most of my time? How can I make the most of the many "Pins" on Pinterest? Seriously.
This ornament selfie was inspired by my little sis. She's awesome.
Around Here our halls are decked with a fabulous indoor light display designed by none other than Joe. He went all out stringing those lights.
Around here we are remembering the Joy of the Season. Baby Jesus born into the world of a virgin. God made Flesh. Dwelling among man. "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14
Around here we are enjoying every bit of time together as a family. We want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! May your hearts be filled with the love of Christ and that you would remember the One full of GRACE and TRUTH this season! Feliz Navidad!
